FEATURE SERIES: Speaking to Martin Gayford

Last week I spoke to the art critic Martin Gayford who is friends with David Hockney and was friends with the recently passed away British artist Lucian Freud. At the moment London’s museums are showing the works of both artists and as Mr Gayford is also the author of the books The Bigger Message and Man with a Blue Scarf, which are dealing with the work of both artists, I decided to get his opinion on some questions which have been running through my mind.

We also talked about his friendship with both artists, how it was for him to be a sitter for Lucian Freud, what he thinks about art universities and about his recent visit to Vienna to present his Lucian Freud book.

The next post on this blog is going to be the first of five interview transcripts with the Martin Gayford, who is currently the chief art critic for Muse of Bloomberg News.
